Place very clean and tidy, but hostel didn't deliver on many points listed with hostels.com or hostelworld.com. No car rental, town shuttle or beach drop off, and no access to the "large upstairs lanai" for dorm guests . Area is reserved to private room guests & hostel owner. Showers & toilet areas are very exposed, showers are padlocked from 10pm-6:30am & so is the kitchen, for "security reasons" (?). Owner can be nice, but is mostly grumpy & complains a lot about guests - maybe time to quit? Leila, from Germany ~ 9th Apr 2013

The hostel itself is okay and worth the money ( speaking about the dorms). But the host is just unfriendly and thinks to be something better. Wouldn't go there again. The other staff ist nice and even gave us a ride to the next supermarket. Niclas, from Germany ~ 19th Feb 2013

We stayed in a private room which was great, well worth the money! Could use better curtains to increase privacy a little,but that is about what I can think of. Good people, good room (cant speak for the dorms though, havent tried), all good! For travelers remember that you need to rent a CAR or MC to get around, local transportation is 2 busses per day, not at all like in honolulu! Mattias, from Sweden ~ 27th Dec 2012

The owner and front desk agent at Pine. Park Kona is a stubborn and unreasonable old lady who has no sense of customer service. The free airport shuttle mentioned on hostels.com, is $40. There's no nightclub in or near the hostel. In fact, it's far from anything central and is not really in Kona. There's no gameroom or games anywhere. Not that I care for one but it's false advertising. According to the site, they rent snorkel gear for $15, while the people across the street rent it Luisana, from Venezuela ~ 23rd Jun 2012
