It's far from the night life but if you have to be back by 3am you not much of a nightlife person so just stay home and read a book.

it's a bit far from most things. beds were quite small and uncomfortable.

The hostel is fairly easy to find. The common room is a hive of activity where lots of guests gather and meet. We went out a few times with quite a number of the others and had a great time. Free internet access was a blessing and the hostel is in a nice safe area 10 mins on the metro to the main station Ueno. Thoroughly recomend.

LOVED the staff- very helpful and friendly! Had a great time with other backpackers- met in the lobby every night and went out as a group. Also loved the sister hostel in Kyoto- but don't take the night bus- it's exhausting!!

we had a great time. the place was easy to find. the bathroom was not always clean but it was ok. we survived. the staff was really helpful and can speak geat english. we will definitly go back there !

Our booking was confirmed but booked in wrongly by the staff. We had no room when we arrived ( 3 of us ). The room booked for us was for 1 single for 4nights instead of 3 persons for 4 nights. Sat there while Jay, who was a relief from Kyoto tried for an hour on the phone to book us another hotel. Finally he took us in a taxi and we went around looking for a hotel. That ride lasted 1 hour.
