The owner here was lovely and very accomodating, but the place is totally overpriced. Its £30 for a room, and was expecting a lovely resort for my last night, having splashed out after staying in cheap places, that were nicer than Raj Resorts! I was really disappointed, though the owner did have some special touches - fruit, a little leaving gift, which was nice. But for what £30 a night can get you in india, this place was nowhere near that range. The air con was squeaking and noisy, as was the fan and there were 2 lizards in the room! The TV didnt work for ages, though that seems to happen a lot in Goa with the power supply. An ok place, but not worth the money.

Raj is a good, average cost hostel, but it is not a resort. That said, the owner and staff were great, helping us get around and even having a party before Christmas. The problems with Raj Resort are: (1) Location - it's at least a km. from the beach (down the hill which is no fun to walk back up at night) so it's not so convenient. Also, it's kind of a hassle to get into either Vasco or the larger towns in the area -- either 1 1/2 hours by bus or 700 rupees or more by taxi. (2) Price: We had a large double room ensuite with tv, a/c, fan, fridge and access to a terrace/balcony (shared with room next door). Based on our experiences in India and elsewhere in the world over the past two years of travel, the room should have cost about $30 - $35 USD. I'm not sure what his normal rates are but because it was Christmas in Goa, we had to pay over $105 a night! I know Goa is popular at CHristmas and all of the hotels hike their rates, but it's still a rip-off. So, visit the Raj because it is a decent place to stay, but know what you're getting into.

Great place to stay! The owner and his staff made it especially enjoyable! It's close to the beach, very clean, and very relaxing! We would recommend Raj Resorts to any and all!
