We have the best facilities by far of any hostel in Galway. There’s our huge, newly re-fitted and fully-equipped self-catering kitchen and dining area, plus our great TV lounge with HD TV and a huge selection of DVDs. We also have smaller reading lounges with extensive libraries of travel books, books of Irish interest and other subjects.

We provide complimentary self-service tea/coffee and toasts every morning.

Our self-service laundry room features coin laundry, ironing and other services.

Almost all of our rooms are ensuite and there are extra bathroom facilities on each corridor.

We offer free internet (with several terminals) and free Wi-Fi plus international power sockets for those with their own laptops.

We’re located right in the centre of Galway – but not in the noisiest part. All the action is around the corner – but it’s not outside our front door. We’re just 100 metres from Eyre Square and three minutes’ walk from the two main bus and train depots. This is the best-located hostel for NUIG, cinemas and shopping, Black Box venue, Town Hall Theatre and most of Galway’s best attractions.

Not only are we a great base for Galway – but we’re also great base for the wider West of Ireland: our partners offer discounted tours to The Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and the Aran Islands. They go every morning with pick-up and drop-off at our front door. Our tour partners also offer jump-off/jump-on facility with our sister hostels in Connemara and The Burren, should you decide that you want to stay overnight in these locations.

Our staff are a mix of local and backpacker staff and they can give you the best of local and touristic perspectives on what’s on in the city and what to do and where to go in the West of Ireland . Our staff have insider knowledge which they can customise to your requirements; whether you’re looking for a crazy pub or a cosy pub, some Irish music or theatre, a comedy show – or some historical or cultural information.

Our location in the centre of Galway puts us just 100 meters from Eyre Square. We’re just a short distance (three minutes’ walk) from the central bus and train station (Bus Eireann and Irish rail will get you to here) and the coach park (a variety of private bus companies operate from here). All of the action in Galway is just around the corner, but not outside our windows, so you should get a good night's sleep.

Our facilities include free internet and free Wi-Fi plus U.S. and Continental European electric sockets for using your notebooks without the hassle of adaptors.

The fully equipped, excellent, self-catering kitchen can cater for large groups but also has nooks for smaller groups or individual travellers.

Our other amenities include vending machines, payphones, self-service laundry, foosball, a TV lounge and our reading lounge with an excellent selection of travel books and books of Irish interest.

Security is important to us. With this in mind, there’s key-card access to front of house, stairwell and individual rooms; electronic luggage lockers, free use of laptop and valuables lockers in lobby plus the largest number of female-only dorms in Galway.

Explore the west of Ireland from our doorstep! We have discounted tickets for tours to the cliffs of Moher (in the Burren region) and Connemara and tour buses collect (and drop off in the evening) at our front door, daily. We have plenty of maps and guidebooks and if you get there and realize you would like to stay the night, we have sister hostels in both Connemara and Burren!

We are informative! Our staff are knowledgeable about every aspect of the city and are able to offer advice and tips - whether it's a cultural experience, a cosy pub or stand-up comedy that you're looking for. We regularly get free passes to nightclubs, music and comedy events for our guests; the free map you receive on check-in has been designed by our staff, and has all the spots of interest as well as the secret little gems that you may never hear about. The staff have researched the nightlife of Galway extensively for you - it's tough work, but someone's got to do it. ;)

Photo ID is required at check-in; we cannot check you in without it. Check-in: 3pm. If you arrive earlier, you're welcome to leave your bags with us until then, chill out and have a cuppa. Check-out: 10am. Please note that Sleepzone Galway is an alcohol-free zone. Galway is a party town. Accommodating over 200 people/night, we feel our priority is to provide a fun, safe, clean, friendly , value for money accommodation - for groups, for individual travellers, for families , for people of all ages and nationalities. For group bookings of more than four people, we may charge a group security deposit of €25 per person. This is payable on arrival by cash or credit card and is fully refundable on departure, subject to adherence to our house rules, which can be emailed to you upon request. For group bookings of more than eight people, we request full payment a month before arrival. Payment can be made by card or bank transfer. All bookings are pre-authorized on the day of arrival. If the pre-authorization is not successful we reserve the right to cancel your booking YHA membership discounts only apply to our rack rate. Discounted online rates/group discounts and other discounted rates cannot be subject to further YHA membership discounts. Please note that we do not provide breakfast in the hostel although we do provide complimentary tea and coffee for all guests until 10am each morning.
