Our Yakushima Youth Hostel overlooks the ocean and is surrounded by a vast, primeval forest. All buildings are made from Japanese cedar trees. The hostel features Japanese-style rooms and beautiful cypress common bath tubs, and many other useful amenities suitable for long stays.

Near our hostel are three 'onsen' (hot springs). One of them is the famous Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen, which appears during low tide, when the receding waters leave a natural pool. After a long, sweaty mountain trek, our visitors can refresh themselves in the hot spring while chatting with local people.
