San Gregorio de Polanco is a unique natural place to visit located along the coastline of the Negro River, in Tacuaremb� Department; about 350 km north of Montevideo..
With a population of 3.000 inhabitants, the town has 13 miles of white sandy beaches and clean waters, pleasant temperatures range from 5 to 35 degree centigrade (40 � 95 F) make it an excellent place to relax.
Trekking, horsing and water sports are some of the activities San Gregorio offers to visitors. For fishing lovers it is a great place to catch king fish, as well as other local species.
During summer the beach is the major attraction, you can spend the whole day and also the night having a swim in the river clear waters.
You can move around the town quite easily on foot as it is not such a big place, contemplate the painted walls, many of them draw by famous Latin-Americans artists. These paints gave San Gregorio the status of Fine Arts Open Museum.
San Gregorio has 20 km of white sandy beaches, fine and pure water.
The wide strip of sand along the coast invites trekking, fishing, horse riding and various water activities. Flat and calm waters perfect for swimming with children and water sports.
Astonishing sunsets, where the sky is painted in incredible colors.
Note that the beach at San Gregorio de Polanco was certified blue flag by the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (the first in the Black River and the tenth in Uruguay).
All these attractions made this off the beaten track town a splendid place to chill out and manage a true contact with local people.
