Go green in London
Tags: cheap London hostels

According to the Daily Telegraph, trials of the Mercedes Electric eVito - which was launched back in 2008 and is a zero-emissions taxi - are going to be started by Eco City Vehicles. Apparently, this little baby should be able to go for around 120 miles without having to be recharged, so it's possible that the traditional black cab that's been seen on the London streets for many a year could be given a run for its proverbial money indeed.
However, the publication said that it's unlikely the eVito will make it onto the roads before 2011 and these pilot tests are expected to be carried out for around 12 months. Chief executive of Eco City Peter DaCosta noted that this development will go some way in meeting the goals recently set by mayor Boris Johnson for a cleaner London.
"The eVito is the first all-electric wheelchair-accessible taxi with a 25-foot turning circle to be launched in the world," he went on to say.
If, however, you're in London before these magic cars hit the streets, you could have fun instead by going to check out Torvill & Dean, who will be displaying their skating talents to spectators as part of the Dancing on Ice tour between April 16th and 20th. What fun!

I love the black cabs in london but it would be great if they were eco-friendly too!
