Renata and the staff were very helpful. I am really glad to have chosen Argyle Backpackers.

Good location on quiet residential street close to university and restaurants; about 20 minutes walk to Royal Mile. Door handle was very loose and took ages to lock. Needed to be replaced. Bathroom shower/sink/toilet was clean, but the mould all over the ceiling was a turn off. Granted with high ceilings you don't come close to touching it, but still....gross!

Great, homely hostel. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm, comfortable and plenty of room. Floor rugs and different coloured bedding created a warm atmosphere. Full kitchen facilities, friendly staff, good security but no lockers in room. Hostel walking distance from centre of town, fairly quiet area. You pay a bit more than other places but I felt it was worth it for the extra comforts.

The receptionists are not friendly and helpful.

The rooms were spacious, which was nice. I was turned off by all this list of rules - they have obviously had problems with previous clients. The staff (Mary) were a bit spacey in their organization.

We had to go through the kitchen to get to a bathroom. Also the toilets and showers were not seperate, so if one was being used, you had to queue. Sad day. Also the directions to the hostel from the station, if you've never been to Edinburgh, are horrible, we spent about a 1/2 hour trying to figure it out and then finally had to walk back to the train station and get a taxi. There was not even a sink in our room.
