I was in a single room. It was big for just 1 person, and the location was excellent. I don't know how the shared beds are, but my room was clean, comfy bed, and a great value for the money. I felt secure in the place and had no problems at all. Deborah, from Puerto Rico ~ 15th Feb 2012

Building was cold and old, but not as cold or old as the pushy and standoff-ish staff.Be sure to bring $10 cash for an unadvertised key deposit, they refuse to take $9 cash or put it on your credit card, but they'll happily insist you pay $5 in ATM fees to get that extra buck. I've stayed here twice.This time the desk clerk at check in was unfriendly and gruff.The rooms which no longer have bunk beds were fine.However my room was extremely noisy from the street and everyone who went up and down the stairs.If I stay there again I'd request a back side, upper room even with the steep stairs.Worth it to be able to sleep. Breakfast was poor and cheap. The phone charger was stolen from the girl in my room. Nobody couldn't care less for her lost. Ventilation doesn't work in the bathroom.It was very hot in the room. The water drained right in from of our windowvery loudly. Lela, from USA ~ 9th Feb 2012

It was a completely easy way to stay in NYC. Simple clean place to sleep without any hassle. I did not immerse myself in the common area. It seems a petty thing to think, but a hook in the bathroom door or wall would have been useful. I'm not sure that every hostel in NY is in the same situation. But, If you have don't have the time and money and want a single room. It's OK. NY has so many palace to see all day and You're also busy. And they give the breakfast. GYU CHULL, from South Korea ~ 19th Jan 2012

Overall, the facilities is great! The kitchen common area is great for guests to hang out, and it's clean.The price was worth for the services provided. I noticed the wi-fi connection was slow or unable to access when more than three or four people tried to connect, maybe the hostel could consider adding more bandwidth?
