This is a good hostel, the staff was really nice and friendly. The dormroom was spacious with comfy beds. Bathroom was good, quite big and superclean! The kitchen was also really clean. Didn't really like the showertokens (- too few!), the curfew and that the hostel was closed during the day (what's the point of having a hostel if it's never open!?). They were not superstrict with the rules though, so it wasn't as bad as I'd thought. Good value for your money, hard to find something this cheap a
Thanks for your comments. We work hard here to provide a good experience for our guests. With regards to the hostel being locked during the day, I just want to clarify that registered guests have 24 hour access with a code they are given when they register. The door is kept locked during the middle of the day for security purposes (while we are cleaning and can't keep an eye on who might wander in), but guests are welcome to come and go as they please. The location couldn't be any better! There was more than ample parking. Lockers are somewhat inconveniently located but they are available. Breakfast looked good even though I didn't partake. Overall the facility was clean though I do somewhat question the cleanliness of all of the bedding. We requested the mixed dorm but were split between the male and female dorm because fire evacuees were staying in the mixed dorm. I want to reiterate-LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

We were there only one evening and unable to judge the "fun" category, but we enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Great location and friendly staff are the ups! Unless you are a child or a senior citizen, stay somewhere else. The 1am curfew and complete ban on alcohol is such a drag since Monterey is a $$$ kind of town. It would be nice to have a few drinks before going out, so you don't have to spend $5/beer out at the bars.

This hostel was a delight, practically a hotel! It would also be very family friendly! Highly recommended!

This place has it all. GREAT LOCATION just two blocks from cannery row. extremely knowledgeable staff that was eager to help out. Very comfortable living area and kitchen space. Every inch of the hostel was immaculate and well maintained. free parking and plenty of locker storage (bring a lock). Only nitpicking i can do is the mattresses were a bit hard but not unbearable by any means.
One of the best hostels i've ever stayed in and one of the most spectacular areas in the country. th
