After turning up 4 hours late (after warning them via email) I lost my booking and my room. The cost I paid online was not subtracted from the room so I lost my deposit. There was only 1 key for the room which made it difficult amoungst 5 people.
Excellent location though.

We booked late so it was the only place available.
You need to bring your own sheets and they kick you out between 11-3 for "cleaning" but the place really wasn't that clean. Breakfast is 3 tokens that work in their vending machines. We had a room by the stairs and the whole places is creaky so it was a bit loud.
It was cheap, you get what you pay for. If you are on a budget and can sleep through noise it is fine.

I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this was one of the worst. It was filthy, the staff was rude and she didn't book me in as my original checkin time was later than they allow despite the fact that I emailed to say I would arrive earlier to meet their check-in time.

After Hostels.com sent us our reservation confiming our stay, someone from Blue Planet Hostel wrote back and told us that they don't accept reservations after 3pm. Not sure why this rule is in effect but it was terribly inconvenient to turn around and try to find another place in Paris on such short notice.

I should have listened to the other poor reviews on this site. Staff were very unfriendly, unhelpful, and seemed uninterested in helping. Rooms and common areas are dark and dirty. Internet did not work when I was there. I slept on a pullout on the floor, with people stepping over me during the night to get to the sink or their bunks. Room was extremely overcrowded. Required to pay extra for sheets. Do not stay at this hostel!

This place is very close to the Gare de Lyon train station. I had a room on the 6th floor, and this place has no elevator so a lot of stairs to climb. The whole floor share one shower and one bathroom, but surprisingly, everytime I need to use it, it's not occupied. You have to turn in your keys everytime you go out because there is only 1 key per room. You have to rent sheets for 2 euros unless you have your sleeping bag. They have in-house internet, but it's like 6 euros an hour. They serve fr

A decent hostel, very well located right next to the main train station. No real common area and a pretty basic kitchen means you'll be spending most of your time out n about. Staff are ok and speak a few languages, only annoying thing is that each room only has one key, so if any of your roommates like to party you'll be letting them in the door at 5am
