Paddy's Palace Derry in Derry, Northern Ireland

Not a very enjoyable stay. Although fairly well located near to the City Centre, the hostel is not very clean or comfortable. The shared shower areas were very basic, but no towels were provided. No internet facilities were available, as had been advertised. Also payment can only be made in cash, which is not suitable for all travellers. I can safely say I would not stay here again. I've done a lot of hosteling and find I prefer hostels staffed by owners and their family. Paddy's Palace's, International Youth Hostels, all franchise/group organizations, are staffed by originally enthusiastic employees who become disillusioned (they thought it would be fun, instead it's hard work and nearly constant problems) so there's a disjointed "air" about these places.
