It's a very clean place in a very quiet street. The host of this hostel understands English and very friendly. The shower room has a pleasant view of the little backyard garden. This is a very nice place to stay. One stop away from Kyoto station, it is a traditional Ryokan. Not fancy, but traditional. The hostess/manager is this extremely nice lady, who is so very helpful. This ryokan is a must-stay if you are Kyoto. The place is spotless, well-decorated, authentic, and very comfortable. The owner is an extremely kind older lady, who made me feel very at home, gave me many pointers on where to go and how to get there, and was a pleasure to interact with. She knows enough English where it counts, and fills in the rest with enthusiastic Japanese. No internet access, but in such a traditional place, that can be seen as a positive.
