GREAT HOSTEL! within 20 minutes of arriving I was sight seeing with lots of other travellers, great if your travelling alone. The hostel is more like a home and the owner is fun and often organises get togethers. I booked a jungle treck with the hostel wich was fantastic. Overall reliable, comfortable and lots of fun.

This place is awesome!!! It may not be flashy but you'll feel like home here. I'll definitely be staying here again. The location is fine and the hostel is really chilled out. Where else can you lounge around on sofas watching dvds and drinking beer like you would at home?? Perfect for those chilled evenings when you're knackered and can't be bothered to go anywhere.

The backpackers make this place the place to be. It's fun and it's always filled with exciting people. The staff are super nice. The only thing I didn't like about it is that there aren't very many bathrooms. My friends and I only stayed there for one night and we had fun just chilling. Gotta love free breakfast!

I booked this hostel because of all the great reviews it received; however it did not meet my expectations. It was not clean, it is very far from town, and the dorm is located close to the tv room so it was very loud when trying to sleep. I think it is still a good hostel, just not what I was looking for. People there were enjoying themselves. Stay here if you are looking for more of a community feel because there is no privacy.

The staff here is fabulous. The place is located in a quiet part of the city, but still close enough to get to the action easily. It was definitely a great place to stay.

Spicythai is one of the better hostels I've stayed during my two month trip in Southeast Asia. The staff were amazing, going out of their way to show the guests a great time in ChiangMai, arranging trips in the area as well as night outs in town. The hostel also has a great collection of DVDs that guests can watch all day long. What makes the place really great is the people that stay at the hostel. Though the average age of guests is a bit young, everyone hangs out together all the time. I

After reading rave reviews, including one guy that told me that this place was the best hostel he ever stayed in, my expectations were high. However, I personaly would never stay here again. I'm writing this after spending the worst night of sleep in a long time due to the noise. I have nothing against party hostels, in fact it's a great way of meeting people (and I have while staying here). But the hostel is set up like a real house, no halls or anything, so when a bunch of people listen to a w
Most of our guest is a single traveler. Once they get to know each other in Spicythai, they manage to go out together. That night almost all of the guest in the hostel (around 20 people) went out and came back late after our staff went to bed so we not realize that they were making noise to annoy guest who didn't go out. And we do have sign to tell people to be quiet after midnight. You should have told them to respect the rule. They all nice people, I'm sure they will listen. Or you really think that Spicythai deserve complaints and bad review for this.
We do like people staying with us having fun.But we also want our guests to have a nice rest too...We just try to do our best for everyone. Hide Owner CommentsRead Owner Comments Veronica, from Canada ~ Feb 28 2008

The fact that i had originally booked for three days and ended up staying 2 weeks should be enough for anyone considering staying with Spicythai. If not then trust that it is an AMAZING hostel, more of a home than a hostel actually with great staff (Pong you're a star) and of course great guests in a fantastic location. I challenge anyone to find better, Kaye, England
