This was my second stay in this hostel. Once I've stayed in an upper West Side place in Manhattan, but this one is way better, spacious and provides a lot of activity. Great hostel. Very good breakfast (it's a bit early, 6-9am). The rooms are nice and clean (though not the cleanest i've been). I had 2 bathrooms ensuite in the dorm. On the down side, sometimes it gets cold at night in the dorm and they only give you 2 thin blankets there's no laundry room, and the kitchen closes at midnight. Overall a great place to stay, people staying there is nice and there's free fondue three times a week. Great value for the money. Mauro, from Argentina ~ 23rd Jan 2012

-Terrible. Staff was very rude at first, then later that improved. -They charge for towels. Never had that happen at a hostel in the past. -Could hear other guests spitting in the showers. -No where to sit in the kitchen area, every single time I went in there. -Neighborhood is awful. -I would not stay here. I really enjoyed staying here. First hostel experience. I was nervous going in, not knowing how clean or safe it would be. Don't worry. This place as a cleaning staff working all day and plenty of security, not that you'll even need it. The environment is fun and relaxing. If you're wanting a unique experience in New York, this is the place to stay. I will definitely stay here on my returning visits. James, from USA ~ 18th Jan 2012

I stayed in the largest female dorm. Although it looked kinda scary at night from the subway station to the hostel, it was not dangerous. The only problem that I had was that I could not charge my phone/laptop through the plugs near my bed, so I hope they fix it by now. Also, towels cost $2, not free. Otherwise I loved staying in this hostel. I would definitely come back here if I need a place to stay in NYC next time! TAKANE, from USA ~ 21st Jan 2012

very cool art on the walls. It seemed safe though kind of isolatedfrommost things. I only walked the back way from the subway though. 15 minute ride or so to lower manhattan. Staff was great and very helpful. The best place to be was the kitchen where people were hanging out every night. Clean, good value. Beds were easy to sleep on.
