First impressions you get how much character this place has got! We got a double bed with ensuite in this nice room. heaters work a treat (travelling in december!) The breakfasts are also awesome and the staff are lovely and even play the guitar! There was also heaps of DVD's to watch which was good because there is not a huge nightlife in this city. internet is v slow though!

excellent hostel. staff speak great english and are extremely friendly and helpful. it is very chilled, at night you can sit on the really comfortable sofas, play bongos and chat to everyone. they will escort you to a waiting taxi after checkout to take you to the train station aswell (for only 10 yuan). the succession of courtyards at the hostel gives the place a really tranquil and traditional feel. would recommend yamen hostel without a doubt!

Very nice hostel. The best on my trip yet. They had good staff and nice people. Very nice family atmosphere. Not to many people. They even let us watch Soccer at 3 o'clock in the night.

Ideal stay in a part of the former gouverneurs palace. Especially Vivian was very helpful in travelplanning.

The female staff was soooo nice and helpful. One of the men almost made sure we missed our train to Beijing. For the women staff we'll award :D-excellent smiley, for the man who fucked up :( very poor.

Excellent location in the heart of Pingyao. Staff extremely helpful and cheery. Would highly recommend this hostel. BIG double bed off a pretty courtyard was an added bonus. Also appreciated the free pick-up from the train station.

Superb hostel: super friendly staff, charming building and rooms, hostel organized a tug-of-war which was great! be prepared, everything is a bit dusty because the whole town is very dusty so there's not much they can do about that.

Dear Yamen hostel and your staff! We had two wonderful days in Pingao and we are very happy for our stay in your nice hostel! Specially we are thankfull to Lu who followed us 2 hours on the train and did not leave us until we 3 hours later after leaving Pingyao were on the bus to Beijing.
