during the school year it's literally the university residence but in the summer it's opened for students taking short courses and travelers (I stayed in a double room with a spanish student) It's not exactly the typical hostel invironment but I had a great time.
great place for a single female traveller especially if you want to practice your spanish and meet female spanish students; everyone very friendly; close to the underground which makes it so easy to roam around madrid at any time of day or night; i have enjoyed it and felt very safe there.

If you're looking for a party location, this is not the right place, but if you're looking for a nice, quiet and safe place to stay, especially when travelling alone, and if you're on a low budget, this is a good choice. It's very close to the metro and to the wonderful Retiro park.
Very friendly and helpful staff. I was loaned a guidebook without even asking upon arrival. Rooms are basic but clean, I had my own room with shared bathroom, hair wash products supplied too. Very good value for money by Madrid standards.
As a female traveling alone this is a great place to stay.
