I think it was the only hostel open in the winter, because I just needed to say "youth hostel" to the bus drivers and they knew where to go. However, it's clean, the showers are great, about a 30 minute walk to the downtown area (about 7 by bus). No complaints!

next to the biggest thermal swimming pool, that was great! i think they could be more transparent about seeing northern lights on the tour, they could not tell me the percentage of time lights are seen on the tour that picks you up at the hostel, and its a lot of money, at least in american dollars, so, if im probably not going to see them, tell me. i didnt go

It would be nice if there were lockers or somewhere secure to put your bags. Having a "luggage room" that is open to everyone staying at the hostel is really no more secure than leaving your things in your room all day (with complete strangers!). Overall, the place was great. The staff is wonderful and the breakfast is fabulous. The location is really not that bad either. I will definitely recommend the hostel!

This is a large hostel where a lot of active people come to stay a rather short while. People book tours and travel further from here. Therefore, it is not as cosey as some other hostels that I know. The camping ground just behind it is pretty. But, it is a stiff walk to the city center from here!
