Our Hostel was founded in 2003 by two of Derry's most passionate backpackers - Steve McPhilemy & Charlie O'Connell. This hostel is our Pride & Joy and has won us several awards.
Steve is a history-nerd, dog-lover & one of Ireland's leading approved Tour-Guides.
Charlie is well-known on the Irish backpacker circuit, a trained cook and a former Safari driver in South Africa.
We are an integral part of our local community and we welcome all to stay regardless of race, sexuality, political or religious belief!

We provide 4 and 6 bed dormitory rooms (several with bathrooms) and also private rooms with ensuite bathroom facilities. We have invested in total comfort mattresses (read our guest comment book!)There is also a modern and fully equipped Kitchen.

We also offer day trips to Donegal and the Giants Causeway. As we are linked to the Paddy wagon circuit, small mini buses of independent travelers are coming and going regularly linking our hostel with the other great hostels in Ireland North and South.
We have an elegant Georgian TV room (SKY Sports and movies!) and adjoining dining room with Pool Table. We also have a backyard, ideal for socializing and sharing stories, very enjoyable in summer nights!

On check-in ask our friendly staff when the next available walking tour is taking place. Our tours cost £4 per person but you, our valued guest can avail of it for a mere £2.50. SO for only £2.50 (the price of a pint of Guinness) you can enjoy a fun and full in-depth local insight into Ireland's most historic City!
The tour will last around 1hour sand will cover the *Political Murals
*Bloody Sunday (1972)
*Historic walled city (1613AD)
The tour will be in English, but some of our guides speak a little French, Italian & Spanish. regardless of the language you speak you will still see some great visual history on this walking tour.
Derry/Londonderry is famous for its Historic Walking Tours with its qualified Tour-Guides.
As our Guests we offer you the chance to join a tour for only £2.50.
The times of our tours vary but in Winter there is a tour on a Monday & Friday evening @4pm approx.
or most of the rest of the year, especially in Summer, we also offer you the chance to join the daily walled city tour at 3.45pm approx.
This tour is weather dependent and is subject to minium numbers taking part.
Our £2.50 walking-tour offer is available for Group bookings at a cheaper rate. Groups can avail of an organised historical walking tour for a small fee by emailing derry@paddywagontours.com
