Besides dormitory and camping accommodation, Spenard Hostel has a large yard with a barbecue and plenty of lawn furniture to enjoy during the long sunny days.
We are happy to offer free coffee, tea, and hot cocoa, as well as make-it-yourself breakfast (pancake/waffle mix, syrup, and oatmeal) and host weekly potluck dinners.
We have plenty of space to spread out, including 3 fully stocked kitchens, 3 common areas (one for conversation, a library for book exchange and using computers, and a TV room) and 4 home style bathrooms.
We are happy to offer bike rentals to help you further explore the city. Our coin operated laundry includes free detergent. We have free WI-FI and pay kiosk computers available.
Free bag storage is available to our guests, as well as inexpensive long term storage if you need to leave some things behind.
We also offer a bear spray and camp fuel exchange, and host what one guest called 'the best free bin in the state of Alaska.'

really nice hostel, has a very homely feel to it. staff very friendly. living room is a nice place to spend time, there are lots of books and it's very cozy. nice beds. only drawback is there are no locks on any of the doors (front door or bedroom doors) so that's a bit weird. but then again it's pretty far away from everything, and i was never really worried about getting my stuff stolen. would definitely recommend this above other hostels downtown, even though it's farther away.
