Ostello San Frediano in Lucca, Italy

It is a big hostel located in an ancient monastery. It is very well running but it is closed too much time, for almost 6 hours a day. It has enormous halls, elevator and a restaurant but you cannot cook itself nowhere. The rooms are a little bit small for eight beds and 18 euros for a bed and for a night it is I think too much, especially in the low season. But it is really great and I can reccomand it strongly. Great location. Lovely hostel with a lot of character and used to be an old nunnery or monestry. Fairly clean but a bit quiet when I came so not a great place to meet people. Common Rooms were very dimly lit. V. good location as just a metres away from the restaurants and shops. Yevon, from Australia ~ 31st Oct 2009
